Moving on – Years 12-13

Words Aloud provides workshops designed to help students prepare for the work place or university application process.

Pupils will learn how to:

  • Make a good first impression
  • Use confident body language and voice projection to make an impact
  • Prepare for an interview
  • Keep nerves under control
  • Recognise their own skill set
  • Speak “off the cuff”, answering questions, and explaining reasons for their opinion
  • Learn from each other through peer-led feedback.

During the workshops we will:

  • Explore the generic skills essential for the workplace and further education.
  • Discuss common fears about the next steps after school.
  • Provide feedback for every pupil on the effectiveness of their communication style.
  • Encourage pupils to reflect on how their own life experience to date has developed their skill set and how to share these stories effectively.
  • Take pupils through a mock interview.

Resources: All pupils will complete and keep their own workbook as a reference tool for their next steps.
